Implementation of an analog modem on the AUX port of the bintec R3000 for remote access
This instruction shows the step-by-step configuration of a bintec R3000 to use an analog modem connected to the AUX port. The manual explains how to configure a PPP remote access connection via AUX modem.

Preliminary Notes:
  • The following modems have been successfully tested with the bintec router:
    · Creative Modem Blaster V.92 Serial (analog modem)
    · Typhoon Serial Modem, V.92 ready (analog modem)
    · US Robotics Sportster Flash (analog modem)
    · US Robotics 56K Faxmodem (analog modem)
    · Siemens TC35i (GSM-modem)
  • The AUX backup cable is used to connect the modem to the routers AUX port.

AUX port configuration
To use an external analog modem following settings are necessary in the “Auxiliary“ menu:

R3000 Setup Tool                       Funkwerk Enterprise Communications GmbH
[AUXILIARY]: Settings                                                    r3000

                  Profile 2
                  Profile 3
                  Profile 4

Several modem profiles can be stored in the options Profile 1 - 4. In this example “Profile 1” is in use. In this case it is required to configure an “Incomming Dispatch Item” and the "Additional Init Sequence”.

WAN Partner configuration
To establish a PPP connection it is necessary to create a WAN Partner. The first step is to enter a Partner Name for the connection.
