Wireless LAN connection between a Windows XP client and a Bintec X2302w with WPA PSK encryption
This Instruction shows the step-by-step Access Point configuration of a Bintec X2302w router and the connection of a Windows XP PC via Bridging. The wireless connection is encrypted with WPA PSK. During the logon to the Access Point the client receives an IP address via DHCP.

Preliminary Note:
  • The X2302w router should be set to the factory defaults
  • It is recommended to use the current software version. In this instruction release V.7.1 Rev. 19 (patch 6) is used.
  • Between both devices a free intervisibility should persist
  • No further DHCP server should exist within this network for this kind of configuration
  • The LAN interface of the router has to be active.

Configuration of the router:

After saving the WLAN configuration an IP-Pool has to be configured in the menu "IP" – "IP address pool LAN (DHCP)" for the DHCP server function.

Configuration of the Windows XP client:
Because "Name is visible = yes", is configured, the link to the router is displayed in the list of wireless networks of the Windows client.

The Preshared Key (min. 8 characters) will be retrieved for authentication during the dial-up. Afterwards the connection will be established.
