X8500, VPN Access 250/1000: References regarding software updates
Examples for several possibilities on how to update X8500, VPN Access 250 and VPN Access 1000 devices

1. Preliminary note

  • The desired software has to be available for the router on a TFTP server.
  • For an update of the Bootimage (BOSS) an appropriate formated Smart Media Flashcard (SMFC) is required. On the flash card there may not be a write-protect label.
  • Further descriptions regarding updates you will find in the "Software Configuration Guide X8500 Family", the "Guide for bintec Large Update" and the"Release Notes 6.2.5".

2. Determine the current versions

2.1 Displaying the versions of Systemlogic, Bootmonitor and Bootimage (BOSS):

3. Bintec Large Update (BLUP) for logics and Bootmonitor (only X8500)

Through the Bintec Large Update (BLUP) new software for the systemlogic, bootmonitor and module logics is transferred to the internal flash (EEPROM) of the system board.

An example for starting the "BLUP" by the Bootmonitor:
