Configuration of a Bridgelink with the ACE OS
The installation of a Bridgelink is easier when you configure them before mounting them on site.
After that you’ve got only to adjust the antennas.
Following steps you’ve got to pass through while configuring the Bridgelink

1.Giving the devices an IP-Adress:
Please install the Compoint Manager and select the network interface : Extras->Options:

Pic1: Interface

After successfully searched the device, you will see it listed in the ComPoint Manager.

Pic2: CPM

Now you’ve got to give the device an IP-Adress. This should be in the same range of your network interface.
After that you can login at the device via telnet or with your Web-Browser.

2.Switching the device to Bridge-Mode

After successfully logged in you’ve got to change the device from Accesspoit (AP) mode to Bridge (BR) Mode.
This menu is found at “Config->Ports->wl2_br->Operating Mode”. Notice that the wl2_br is only found at devices with two radio modules. If you’ve got a device with one radio module e.g. W1000 your port is called wl1_ap and you ‘ve got to change it to wl1_br.

3. RF- Settings
In the RF-settings menu you’ve got to choose the frequency and the channel. In Pic 4 you see the the 2.4 Ghz band and channel 1 chosen.
Before installing the bridge link you should be sure that the channel you want to use is free, to avoid any disturbances and
link losses.

4.Security
The next parameter which is important to set ist he security. For that please go to the security menu

Pic5: Security

Please choose here the encryption method you want to use. In the pic exemplarily AES is chosen.
After that you can put in the encryption key at “PassPhrase” or let it automatically generate at “Automatic key”.

5.Building up the Bridgelink
The next Stepp now is to go to the 5. menu „Bridge links“.

Pic6: Bridge links
In the submenu please choose the first menu point “wl2_br1” or “wl1_br1” when you’ve got only one radio module.
We recommend to put in under “Alisa name” name for the bridgelink, to avoid any mistakes.
After that please go to “Auto config -> Config state -> perform” to akivate the scanning for possible partner devices.

Pic7: Activation of the scanning

Devices which are locked aren’t shown here in this list. This menu you can see at Pic7. Here is “Lock state” at unlocked.
D you should set devices which are already parametrised to lock state to avoid any mistakes while configuring a new
partner for e.g.

Pic8: the scanning

After successfully scanned the area you can see as shown in Pic 9 the message “scan complete”. And below that the number of found possible partners.

Pic9: Scan complete

To choose one of the found devices you’ve got to move to this menu and click on the device with wich you’ve want to establish the bridge link (see Pic10). After that you’ve got to wait for about 2 minutes. In this time all the parameters which you’ve set are send to the partner device. This is the so called auto configuration. You don’t have to configure the partner device again.

Pic10: Scan Selection

When the data tranfer is done, a star appeares in front of the node name like seen in Pic11.

Pic11: Parameter Exchange

As soon as the star appears you can leave the menu. Now you see in the „Config state“ menu the message „done“ ( seePic12)

Pic12: done

This means that the configuration is successfully done resp. transferred to the partner device. You can veryify this in the menu „Linktest“ (Pic13)

Pic13: Linktest

You can use the linktest menu while fine adjusting the antennas to achieve an exelletn link quality.

Pic14: Lockstate

After configuring successfully the the bridge you should set both device to the status locked at the menu „Lock state“.
This is important to avoid any parameter changes by mistake. This menu is found in the “Autoconfig submenu” (see Pic14)
